About Cambodia
Cambodia has seen and overcome incredible adversity in the past few decades. A brutal genocide in the 1970's killed a quarter of the population, devastating countless families. Decades later, the effects are still felt throughout the country in the form of extreme poverty, human trafficking, and mental health issues.
Cornerstone is sending a family from our church body — Pam, Isaiah and their daughter — to Cambodia to partner with God in transforming the lives of the Khmer people. They plan to use business as a vehicle for empowering Cambodian families to escape exploitation and poverty, for building redemptive relationships, and for holistic disciple making.

Cambodia is a beautiful country in southeast Asia, bordering Thailand and Vietnam.

Most of Cambodia is still very rural — agriculture is over a third of the country's GDP.

A common sight in the cities: a tuk tuk (taxi) driver for hire.

Folk Buddhism is the predominant religion in Cambodia — less than 2% of Cambodians are evangelical Christians.

In the 1970's, Cambodia suffered a terrible genocide that took the lives of over a quarter of the population.

Despite the country's tragic past, the Cambodians are a resilient and beautiful people whom Jesus loves.

Having lived in both North America and Asia, they appreciate the joys and challenges of living and working cross-culturally, and are excited to share this experience with their daughter. They bring their passion for the marketplace, their professional and ministry experience, and their hearts for the Cambodian people into this project.
