Description
Ger and Gaby started a Dental clinic in Oaxaca with other Christian dentists. The dental clinic is full service, including Orthodontics and Surgery. They are profitable and fuel mission trips to impoverished areas that have not heard the Gospel. They go on monthly trips to different areas of the State and do dental clinics plus other things. They also host teams. This ministry is a great example of sustainable local ministry and a successful handoff or transition of ministry from a foreign missionary to locals.
Cornerstone Seattle helped contribute funds for the start of the clinic and has partnered with the original foregin ministry led by Peter Cawthon. Peter and Theresa Cawthon were in Oaxaca for over 30 years. They had a very simple vision, which is to identify areas in Oaxaca that are unchurched, unreached, map those places out, find a nearby Evangelical Church and make connections. He and his team went out to different indigenous villages to share the love of God, the Gospel or truth, and hada nearby congregation follow up. Their usual means of reaching villages was via dentistry, medical, haircuts, house to house bucket distributions and some small programs.
