Bellevue, Jubilee REACH
March 2026 Update
My Role:
Jubilee REACH aims to bring Jesus’ healing, build community, and transform lives here in Bellevue. Staff and volunteers work toward our mission in four main areas, also known as our four pillars: the public schools, our community center, the thrift store, and community-building events. I currently get to serve as one of the Site Coach Managers for Jubilee REACH in the Schools. In this role, I oversee our staff at two of the middle schools (Tillicum & Tyee) as well as our Operations Team. In the middle schools, Jubilee runs most of the athletic activities in the district with Site Coaches and volunteers coaching teams each season. I get to walk alongside the Site Coaches that are present in the public schools as they focus on building relationships during the school day and through activities after school. On the operations side, our team provides a lot of centralized administrative support that includes overseeing registration for activities, scheduling, and resource development. Your prayers and support make such a difference. Thank you!
Update:
It’s hard to believe that the school year is well over halfway through and that in just a few weeks we’ll be approaching the final quarter of the year. I am amazed at what the Lord has done - within our team internally and through each of our staff in the schools. Over the past few months, we’ve hired several new staff in the Jubilee REACH in the Schools department. All of our full-time Site Coach positions are currently filled and we have a full operations team with 5 of us focused on more centralized support.
This past week I had the chance to visit Sammamish High School and shadow our Site Coaches there. Fun Friday included playing Giant Uno with students in the lunchroom as we talked about the challenges of state testing and how it was nice to have break and spend time connecting with friends. In the classrooms, one Site Coach helped students struggling in math to stay focused and another engaged students in deeper discussion about a book they had just finished reading. Seeing how excited the students were to see their coaches was definitely a highlight and the importance of consistency in being able to build that kind of relationship and trust was evident.
We have a few more weeks of flag football season in the middle schools but we are already preparing for our spring sports season. Boys basketball, girls soccer, and girls golf will begin in April. Please pray that we would have enough volunteers to accommodate as many students as possible as well as for favor in the provision of facilities and transportation.
We returned to Sherwood Forest this year after several years of not having Site Coach presence there. Our monthly newsletter recently featured a story about a student’s connection with her Site Coach. If you’d like to hear more, you can read the full article here: https://mailchi.mp/jubileereach/canyouwalkwithme?e=8a0df227ed
Thank you so much for your prayers and support. It truly brings so much encouragement and makes such a difference in the work happening in the schools!

Bellevue, WA - Young Life
March 2026 Update
In January 2022, I took on a local role as Asian American Young Life Developer. Four months later in April, I accepted an additional national role as the U.S. Asian Initiative Coordinator.
Although my ministry roles have changed and expanded, my passion for introducing teenagers to Jesus and supporting them in their faith continues.
I will be focusing full time on the Asian American Young Life initiative. By working alongside local Young Life areas and introducing Asian American communities to Young Life, my goal is for more adults to be invited into ministry and for more kids to be led and introduced to Jesus. Majority of my time will be focused on the Greater Seattle area (Bellevue, Mercer Island, Issaquah, Redmond, etc.). A portion of my time will be spent supporting Young Life staff across the U.S. to better reach Asian American communities. Asian Americans are the fastest growing immigrant group in the US and in 30 years it will be the largest. Only 1% of Young Life staff in the U.S. are Asian and my goal is to bring change in that statistic as well.
Update
Even though February is a short month, change can happen in an instant. This month, we’ve reached new milestones in our relationships with the students because they have come to trust us and want to share more of their lives with us. Because of your support and your prayers, we are empowered and encouraged in Christ. When students ask if we can, we have the privilege of saying yes.
Back in December, we started the process to become official club volunteers for Newport’s Christian club. This month, Ethan was finally approved to visit. On his first day back, he was surrounded by students who still remembered him.
Every Monday, we continue to invite students out to happy times and happy meals at McDonalds. This February, we had someone new join us. One of our regular kids invited his friend from his baseball team to eat with us.
Chris continues to climb with the students, sharing one of his favorite hobbies with them. This month, we had someone new join us.
Funding
Our funding needs by the end of the fiscal year (September) is currently $28,700 down from $47,350! We are so grateful for all of your support and your prayers. Your gift helps reach Asian American teenagers through culturally aware outreach and supporting and developing the leaders serving them. We need support for the following:

Prayer Requests
- As we serve, please continue to pray that our heart posture would remain rooted in God. Please also pray for the following:
- The first study hall will be on February 25. Please pray for wisdom and discernment over how to continue cultivating the space into a welcoming event for students.
- Ethan will be starting a Bible study with some students very soon. Please pray that God would prepare him to lead and support the students who are interested.
- Peter will be serving as a Camp Director this summer. In preparation, he and his team will be attending Camp Training next week. Please pray for a fruitful time together as a team and that Peter would lead well.

Synove Carlson
Japan - Converge
March 2026 Update
God brought me to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in 2021. I found myself in a community that truly exuded God’s love in both attitude and actions. There, I was encouraged to serve missionally and deepen my relationship with God. After an invitation to go on a short-term mission trip in Southeast Asia, I sensed God nudging me saying “Go!” While I felt terrified and underqualified, after much prayer and counsel, I decided to say “yes” despite my fears. During that trip, God stretched me beyond my comfort zone and made me rely on the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Witnessing the beauty of God working, I saw how faith transformed people with the fullness of Christ’s freedom.
Later, on another short-term mission in Japan, I sensed that God was once again nudging me but couldn’t quite discern His intention. Debriefing that trip, I suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of yearning from the Holy Spirit that made me break down sobbing. In that moment, I felt God was sharing a fraction of what He feels, desiring to be united with His children in Japan. I was reminded of the freedom and love I received from God and realized so many people have yet to experience that. I continued seeking clarification from the Lord, also asking for advice from elders in the missions ministry at church. After much spiritual wrestling, I decided to say “yes” to what I believe God is calling me to do: missions in Japan.
Now working with Converge, I am preparing to do a 2-year residency in Tokyo. During the residency I will be studying Japanese, taking Theological courses through Kairos University, serving Cornerstone Tokyo (Yay!!), supporting existing ministries in Converge’s Japan Initiative, and seeking to find out what God is directing me to do missionally after completing the residency.
While I don’t know exactly how God will use me in Japan, I know that I will walk alongside those He brings into my life, laughing with them in their highs, and crying with them in their lows. And in all of it, I will strive to show them Jesus who loves them most of all.
Funding
I am 35% funded.

Oaxaca Short Term Mission Trips
Until all have heard...
It has been a privilege to be part of the Cornerstone Oaxaca story over the past 10 years. We look back at the humble beginnings of both, Peter Cawthon, Impacto, Pastor David (Oaxaca side missionaries) and also our small band of adventurous short term teams from Cornerstone Seattle, led by David Lee and Katherine Shen who dared to say "Yes" and hoped for the Spirit to do great things.
Update
In the northern area of Oaxaca, we now have a thriving dental ministry and an organization called Healing Nations, led by German Ortiz and Gaby Ortiz Silva (Sister), who join hands with about nine other talented dentists to reach Oaxaca and the Nations for Christ. In the past couple years alone, they have served in 27 different towns with similar brigades to Pastor David's. They have also ventured to do medical missions in 6 other countries outside of Mexico. God is working mightily there and Cornerstone (and in particular the 2020 trip) have a big connection to the ripple effect of Healing Nations.
In the southern area of Oaxaca, we now have a thriving school and missions hub led by Pastor David and Sandra. They have a Christian private school called Cornerstone Samahua offering pre-k to k12 and more importantly, hope through the Gospel, to kids of low income families. They also have a growing Church that focuses on the parents and the entire family, with women's groups and men's groups designed at serving these families holistically. They go on mission brigades about 7 times a year, hosting teams of various sizes and talents, but with the same goal, which is to make Christ known in Oaxaca. In the last 2 years alone, we have seen 3 Churches started in previously unchurched areas that our Cornerstone team visited (Xanica, Santa Maria Limón and San Pedro Cafetitlan). These are growing home Churches of about 30 people each, overseen by Pastor Leonilo. These home Churches sprung up in in large part due to their healthy way of doing missions with the aim for follow up and Church planting. This year, the two towns we served in are in ongoing conversations of starting home Churches (San Isidro Limón and Magdalena).
Every cent given in support to Oaxaca, every meal bought in support, every piece of clothing, toy or produce given for the Mission, every single person who has gone, helped or prayed for the yearly trips has greatly contributed to something, that in my own opinion, is truly great and has ripple effects felt into eternity.
