Jonah: Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment

Jonah was commanded by God to preach to Israel’s enemies, the Ninevites. Yet Jonah’s hatred toward them led him to run in the opposite direction. After God got his attention, Jonah reluctantly complied with God. Even though his preaching lacked mercy and love, the Ninevites repented and God spared them. We can run away from the Lord’s will or we can run toward it. We can do the right things with the wrong heart and we are the ones who suffer for it.
