Paul refers to the gospel as the gospel of peace. First and foremost the gospel provides us with the means of having peace with God. We begin our lives as enemies of God and objects of His wrath but through the gospel we can have peace with God. This peace also informs our approach toward the world that needs Christ. If we approach non-Christians by attacking them and treating them like they're our enemies, we obscure the very message that can bring them peace with God.
